Harrisburg 6, Stevens 1
In the first game of the doubleheader, Harrisburg took a 6-1 victory against Stevens. Chase Lucas had the win for the Tigers with 7 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched, and teammate Jack Sutton had 2 runs and 2 r.b.i.
In the loss, Gavin Skinner had 10 strikeouts in 5 innings and gave up just 1 hit with 2 runs.
Harrisburg 13, Stevens 11
Bend but don’t break. Now twice on this road series to the Black Hills, Harrisburg nearly lost a big lead. But like in the first game, the Tigers held on for the victory. Stevens took a quick 2-1 lead in the 1st inning, but Harrisburg responded in the 2nd inning, scoring on a wild pitch. The Raiders had the score back in their favor, but the Tigers scored six runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a comfortable 8-3 lead.
The Raiders slowly worked their way back, and in the 5th, Colton Nesland singled to score two and tie the game at 9 runs a side. Stevens kept the momentum going, and in the 6th, took a 2-run lead off a bases loaded walk and a single by Gavin Skinner. But the Tigers scored on two errors in the 7th, and a double by Ben Loos sealed the game.
Lennox 14, Baltic 4
The Lennox Orioles had 14 hits in their 5-inning victory over Baltic on Thursday. Carter VanHouten lead with 3 hits and 3 runs scored, while Peyton Eich had the win, throwing 3 innings. Eich had 6 strikeouts, while giving up 4 hits and no runs.
Lennox 5, Baltic 4
In another 5-inning game, Lennox won a comeback victory over Baltic. Baltic took an early 2-0 lead on a ground ball single from Gunner Schultz, but Lennox responded with a r.b.i. single in the bottom of the first. The Orioles then tied the game on a walk in the 2nd inning, but Baltic regained the lead soon after a Matt Muston double.
Lennox again tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd on walk, and took a final lead on an error in the 4th.
Winner/Colome 13, Chamberlain 3
Aiden Barfuss struck out 5 in the final two innings, and had 3 r.b.i. in the victory for Winner/Colome. Teammates Evan Farner, Aaron Gilchrist, and Charley Pravecek also had 2 hits, while Dakota Munger of Chamberlain went 2-3 with a home run.
Dell Rapids 7, Tri-Valley 3
Dell Rapids won the home opener with a 7-3 victory over Tri-Valley. In relief, Landon Ruesink had 5 strikeouts and gave up just 1 hit in 4 innings of work.
CJ Smith also had a pinch hit triple for Dell Rapids, while Logan Colwill had two hits for Tri-Valley.
Lincoln 2, Roosevelt 1
In an inter-city matchup, the Patriots from Sioux Falls Lincoln took the narrow 2-1 victory.
Lounsbery and Gadbois were both perfect through 3 innings, before Lincoln’s Hammerstrom and Roosevelt’s Zernan both singled in the 4th. The shutouts continued until Hughes doubled in the 6th, giving Lincoln a 2-0 lead. Roosevelt responded with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th, but it was not enough.
Lounsbery was the winning pitcher for Lincoln, throwing a complete game and striking out 6. For Roosevelt, Camden Gadbois gave up just 1 hit in 5 innings of work with 9 strikeouts.
Brookings 7, Yankton 6
Jackson Krogman had 3 hits, while Jamison Honkomp finished with 2 hits in the victory. Brookings had 7 errors in the game, but Krogman also threw the complete game victory, striking out 9. For Yankton, Austin Wagner had 2 hits and 2 runs. Samuel Kampshoff started for Yankton, giving up 3 earned runs in 6 innings will striking out 7. Kampshoff finished with a no-decision.
Brookings 10, Yankton 1
Brookings’ Kyle Bauer had 9 strikeouts and gave up just 3 hits in a complete game victory. Jackson Krogman finished with 2 hits and 2 runs for Brookings as well, while Max Kjelden had 2 runs and 2 r.b.i.
