BASEBALL RECAP (4/28): BV & Pierre Sweep, Tea Gets Big Win

Tea 5, Jefferson 2

The Titans extended their winning streak behind the combined pitching efforts of Logan Boom, Boston Willemssen and Nate Christensen.

The trio scattered a combined 5 hits in the contest while striking out 7.

At the plate, Sam Werdel and Mason Schramm both scored a run and drew 2 walks.

For Jefferson, Thomas Heiberger went 2-3 and Ryan Rysavy earned 3 free bases.


Pierre 8, Lincoln 5

The Govs secured the victory with a 3-run 6th inning, capitalized by a go-ahead triple from Brecken Krueger.

Fellow Gov Deegan Houska had an excellent game, as the catcher went 2-2 with 3 RBIs and a pair of walks.

Lincoln Kienholz also hit a 2-run home run in the contest and Jack Merkwan got the save with 2 strikeouts.

Pierre 4, Lincoln 3

Pierre rallied in the bottom of the 7th and completed the sweep when Charlie Simpson hit a RBI-SAC fly to end the doubleheader.

JJ Bucholz was solid in a relief effort, giving up just 2 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings of work.

At the plate, Houska completed the big day with 2 more hits and a pair of RBIs, while Merkwan scored twice.


Brandon Valley 17, RC Central 3 (5 IN)

The Lynx set the tone on a west river trip with a dominant game 1 victory.

Ty Peyton connected for 3 hits while scoring 3 times for the winners and Tayton Stroh crushed two doubles.

Also for the Lynx, Tate Ivers drove in 4 runs on a 2-hit performance, while teammates Vander Sage, Cole Frisbie and Ryland Carroll had multi-hit games.

Brandon Valley 20, RC Central 3 (4 IN)

Carter LaBrie gave up just 1 hit and 1 walk to go along with 8 strikeouts for the Lynx.

BV finished with 16 hits in the contest, including 3 from Sam Sejnoha and 2 each from Nick Lohr, Aiden Zerr, Dawson Mork, Jackson Adams and Josh Olthoff.


Gregory County 1, PGDCWL 0

Gannon Thomas threw a complete game 2-hitter and struck out 8 batters to earn the win for Gregory County.

GC’s Rylan Peck had the lone multi-hit day, connecting for a single and a triple while driving in the game’s only run.


Belle Fourche 6, St. Thomas More 5

JT Hahne hit a walk-off single to right to elevate the Broncs to the victory.

Belle Fourche finished with 7 hits in the contest, lead by Caeyn Thomsen with 2. Both Aiden Voyles and Anthony Budmayr also drew 2 walks in the contest.

In the loss, Tyson Durham knocked in a pair of runs on 3 hits.


Winner/Colome 9, RC Christian 7

The Royals held back a late rally for the Comets to earn the home victory.

Dylan Brandis pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief, earning the save with 3 strikeouts.

At the plate, Pierce Nelson, Ethan Bartels and Ryder Halligan all drove in a pair of runs, while Max Brozik scored 3 times.


EP-J 19, Canton 0 (5 IN)

Ty Trometer lead the Huskies to a big victory, as the first basemen scored 3 runs on a pair of walks and 2 hits.

Fellow Huskie Jake Gale drove in 3 runs on a single and a double, while Jackson Prouty scored 3 times on 2 hits.


Madison 15, Elkton 6

The Bulldogs exploded for a 10-run 2nd inning to secure a dominant victory.

Calvin Kelsey had 3 hits in the contest for the winners, while teammates Carson Wolf and E Barger both scored a trio of runs off of 2 hits.

For Elkton, Eliot Erickson went 2-4 with a pair of runs.
