Class A Baseball Recap (5/12): Govs Earn the Sweep, Miller Completes a No-Hitter for Sturgis

Pierre 11, Yankton 9

PIERRE- The Govs put together a five-run rally in the sixth frame to take the victory in game one of the doubleheader.

Spencer Easland went 4-4 while scoring three runs and Jett Zabel went 3-4 with a walk at the plate. Teammates Nolan Petersen and Matthew Brewer also had multi-hit performances.

For Yankton, Tate Beste had a pair of hits in the leadoff spot, and Lucas Kampshoff drew two walks to go along with a double.

Pierre 4, Yankton 2

The Bucks completed a late rally in the final frame, but Dawson Getz finished the contest with a pair of strikeouts. In the win, Petersen had another two hits and George Stalley drove in two runs on a single and a triple.

In the loss, Matthew Sheldon went 2-3 with a walk.

Sturgis 16, Douglas 1 (4 IN)

STURGIS- The Scoopers cruised to victory as Yaden Miller threw a no-hitter. Miller finished with seven strikeouts and two walks in the contest.

In the leadoff spot, Bricon Herron went 3-4 with a double, a triple, three runs and three RBIs. Teammate Jack Knutson drove in a pair of runs and Miller had 4 RBIs to go along with his no-hitter.
