South Dakota Baseball Recap (4/22): Roosevelt Wins In Extra Innings

Roosevelt 2, Washington 1 (8 in.)

Roosevelt scored on an error in the top of the 8th, and got the victory with 2 strikeouts in the bottom of the 8th.

Billy Chatwell walked 3 times for the Rough Riders, while Dylan Ades had 1 r.b.i. and 1 hit. For Washington, Aiden Beck had 3 hits and Tyler Boyum had 2 hits.


Brookings 4, Harrisburg 0

The Bobcats combined for a 1-hit shutout to earn the victory. Jackson Krogman had the win, pitching 5 innings with 7 strikeouts, 6 walks and 1 hit. Mason Bebensee threw the last 2 innings of relief, walking 1 and striking out 1.

Henry Hammrich was the top hitter for Brookings, drawing 2 walks and scoring twice. In the loss, Tyson Kogel had the lone hit and teammates Ben Loos and Stewart Nickel drew 2 walks each.

Harrisburg 3, Brookings 2

Ben Loos hit 2 doubles in the victory and drew the game-winning r.b.i. walk in the top of the 6th. Teammate Lucas Crichton struck out 6 and walked 3 in 2 innings of relief and Jack Teigen walked twice.

For Brookings, Jackson Krogman was 1-1 with 2 runs scored and 2 r.b.i.


West Central 15, Flandreau/Chester/Colman-Egan 2

Tash Lunday had 2 hits for F/C/C-E in the loss while Tanner Christensen scored once on 1 hit.


Elk Point-Jefferson 3, Vermillion 2

A r.b.i. single by Skyler Swatek in the top of the 6th proved to be the winning play for the Huskies. Swatek was 3-4 with 2 r.b.i. and a double in the game, and won the game on the mound. Teammate Andrew Nearman was 3-4.

For Vermillion, Ben Burbach was 2-3 with a run scored, and Willis Robertson struck out 6 in 4 innings of relief.


Parkston/Ethan/Tripp 18, Hanson-Aurora 5

Parkston/Ethan/Tripp had just 7 hits in the victory, but drew 10 walks. Ty Neugebauer was 2-2 with 4 runs. Max Scott was also 2-3 with 3 runs while Brayden Jervik drew 3 walks.


Gillette (WY) 3, Sturgis 1

Owen Cass and Kelton Olson both had a hit for Sturgis, as the Scoopers only had 2 hits in the game.

David Anderson had 9 strikeouts with 5 walks and 5 hits in 4 innings for Sturgis in the loss.

Gillette (WY) 7, Sturgis 3

RJ Andrzejewski and Ridge Inhofer both scored once with 1 hit in the loss. Dustin Alan threw 6.1 innings, giving up 2 earned runs with 8 strikeouts, 6 walks and 4 hits.
