Baseball Daily Recap (5/13): Ruesink Hits Clutch Home Run For Dells, SFC Sweeps

Class A

Lincoln 13, Roosevelt 4

SIOUX FALLS- The Patriots connected for 12 hits in the win. Brycen Mitchell led the way with three hits and four RBIs and Nate Motl went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Also for the victors, Ryan Hirsch and Chase DuBois scored three runs each.

For the Rough Riders, Lawsen Hensley drew two walks in the leadoff spot.

Region 1

Vermillion 2, EP-J 1

VERMILLION- Nolan Nygren (5.1 IN, 6 K) and Connor Peterson (1.2 IN, 1 K) threw a combined one-hitter to lead the Tanagers to the home victory.

Offensively for Vermillion, Trey Hansen drove in both runs on a triple and later hit a double in the contest.

C/V-H 10, Parker 6

PARKER- Aiden Bobzin led the victors with three hits and a trio of RBIs at the plate, while teammates Cole Edberg and Caleb Fischer each had a pair of base hits.

In the loss, Jevin Erickson went 2-3 with three runs and walk, Alek Kuchta collected two hits and Cale Sheaffer put together a three-hit performance.

Region 2

Madison/Chester 12, Redfield Area 1 (5 IN)

MADISON- M/C continued their run atop the region with an early victory. Ben Brooks struck out 11 batters in the complete game win, while also connecting for a home run at the plate. Teammates Tregg McGillivray and Thomas Mechels compliments with two hits each.

Region 3

Dell Rapids 8, Brandon Valley 6 (9 IN)

BRANDON- Dell Rapids earned a marquee win in a strong battle on the road. Cole Ruesink connected for the go-ahead home run in the final frame to secure the victory.

Jack Henry hit a home run for the victors to start the contest and teammates Drake Eastman and Talan Millage put together two-hit games.

For Brandon Valley, Chase Leary, Brayden Knutson and Luke Smart each had two hits.

Dell Rapids 10, Brandon Valley 7

Dell Rapids secured the sweep behind a balanced effort. Tad Tjaden and Lincoln Fersdahl both had two hits in the contest and Konrad Richeal earned the save with five punchouts in two innings of work.

For BV, Grady Gindorff scored twice on three walks and Will Bunker drew two free bases.

SFC 14, Lennox 6

SIOUX FALLS- Drew Weir drove in five runs on a pair of hits in the leadoff spot. Tim DeSautel and Tate Connell also had multi-hit performances and Gabe Long and Jacob Docter scored three runs each.

For Lennox, Isaac Bambas, Talen Eich and Cole Spieler each had two hits.

SFC 10, Lennox 0 (5 IN)

The Chargers secured the doubleheader sweep with a seven-run rally in the fifth inning. On the mound, Paul Hoekman (4 IN, 7 K) and Joel Van Den Stroet (1 IN, 2 K) completed the combined one-hitter.

At the plate, Tate Connell had a double among three hits and Tim De Sautel drove in a trio of runs.

C-E/F 11, Garretson 6

FLANDREAU- C-E/F picked up the win at home as Xavier Bier punched out 11 batters in five innings on the mound. Offensively, Cameron Flute had two hits and Emmett Skrock reached first three times via a hit and two HBPs.

In the loss, Ian Buettner went 2-3 with a double, a walk and three runs.

Region 4

RC Christian 12, Hot Springs 4

HOT SPRINGS- The Comets secured the victory with four runs in both of the final two frames.

Miaciah Griffith led the Comets with three hits, three RBIs and three runs. Teammate Benson Kieffer complimented with three hits and four runs and Simon Kieffer and Cayden Von Eye each had two hits.

For the Bison, Nik Cruz and Blake Hanes both went 2-4.

Lead-Deadwood 16, Douglas 4 (5 IN)

BOX ELDER- Lead-Deadwood picked up a Class A win as Ethan Hess, Jaxson Burleson and Drew Janke each put together two-hit performances at the top of the order. Beau Wichterman also had two base hits for the victors.

For Douglas, Carson Hicks went 2-3 with a run and a RBI.
