BASEBALL RECAP (4/13): Rothschadl, Mork, Boyd Blast Home Runs

Washington 6, Jefferson 4

Jefferson struck early with four runs in the first frame, but Washington worked their way back, answering with two runs in the first, one in the second, and a game-clinching three runs in the third.

Andrew Glovich then threw three hitless innings in relief and struck out six batters to help lead the Warriors over the Cavs.

Offensively, Dylan Rippentrop lead the way for Washington with a 3-4 performance in the leadoff spot, while Myles Rees and Wesley Stroh collected two hits each.

For Jefferson, shortstop Thomas Heiberger drove in two runs on two hits.


Harrisburg 17, Lincoln 6 (5 IN)

The Harrisburg bats were on fire Thursday night, as the Tigers produced 16 hits.

Palmer Boyd lead the way with a dinger in the bottom of the third and six RBIs on the day, while teammates Carter Hoffman and Coen Cook each drove in four runs on two hits of their own.

Max Carlson also had a big day at the plate, going 3-3 with a two RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

On the mound, Eli Kokenge threw four innings of one-hit baseball, striking out seven.


Mitchell 10, Huron 9

The Huron Tigers scored seven runs in the first frame, but Mitchell chipped away and secured the win behind a two-RBI double from Dylan Soulek.

Soulek also earned a save on the mound, striking out two batters in the final inning.

Offensively, Lincoln Bates had four hits, including two doubles for the Kernels, and teammate Hudson Borgan finished with a pair of singles.

For Huron, Layne Wenzel scored two runs on three hits, and Ethan Busch reached first safely three times in the leadoff spot.

Huron 5, Mitchell 4

Kolby Hofer secured the split with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

Busch also added two more hits to his total, while earning the win with two shutout innings on the mound.

For Mitchell, Soulek drove in three runs and hit a double.


Bon Homme 10, Vermillion 1

The Cavaliers took home the victory behind a dominant performance from Riley Rothschadl.

Rothschadl threw three shutout innings with seven strikeouts, while driving in five runs on a double and home run in the leadoff spot. Teammate Landon Smith also finished with two hits, while DH Jace Toupal scored a pair of runs.


Madison 10, EP-J 4

The Bulldogs utilized a seven-run fourth inning to earn the win over EP-J.

Lucas Mork lead the way with a big day, blasting a two-run home run in first, and later driving in two more runs with a double. Teammate Braxton Bjorklund also produced two hits in the win.

In the loss, Keaton Gale finished with a triple, while Hunter Geary and Evan Hailey both went 2-2 on the day.
