BASEBALL RECAP (5/7): Foxley Crushes 2 Dingers, Dells Sweeps

CLASS AA

Stevens 6, Brookings 2

The Raiders picked up another win on their east river trip behind a 13-hit performance.

Kade Walker scored 3 times on 2 hits for the winners, while teammates Colten Morlang, Cooper Morlang, Ethan Wilson, Kolton Moshier and Brody Thompson all had multi-hit days.

For Brookings, Breck Hirrschoff went 3-4 with a pair of runs.

Brookings 5, Stevens 3

The Bobcats answered with a 3-run 1st inning and earned the split behind a complete game performance from Zach Struck.

At the plate, Justin Cofell and Nolan Miles had 2 hits each for the winners.

Bon Homme 8, EP-J 0

Riley Rothschadl and Brady Bierema combined for 12 strikeouts in a 2-hit shutout win.

At the plate, Landon Bares crushed a grand slam in the 3rd and Bierema added on with a 2-run dinger in the 5th.

EP-J 7, Wagner 4

The Huskies held off a late Wagner rally to get the home victory.

Ben Swatek threw a complete game for EP-J, while Hunter Geary scored twice in the leadoff spot.

For Wagner, Matt Link went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and a pair of runs.

Bon Homme 3, Wagner 0

Landon Smith threw a 3-hit shutout to earn the win for the Cavs. Teammate Trey Kall also went 2-2 with a walk.

Parker 12, C/F/M 2 (5 IN)

Brendan Pesicka drove in 3 runs on 2 hits to lead the Pheasants to victory.

Ray Travnicek also went 2-4 with 3 runs in the leadoff spot for the victors.

P/E/T 10, B/A-H 0 (5 IN)

Brayden Jervik drove in 4 runs, while Luke Bormann scored 3 times to lead the Trojans to an early victory.

Vermillion 3, Scotland/Menno 2

Connor Peterson threw 2 shutout innings to earn the save for the Tanagers.

At the plate, Mikey Roob scored twice for the winners, while Carter Hansen went 1-2 with a walk and a RBI.

Howard 9, Sioux Valley 1

Griffin Clubb crushed a home run and scored 3 times to lead Howard to a road victory.

Also for the Tigers, Kade Shumaker, Luke Koepsell and Colby Claussen finished with 2 hits each.

Howard took home their second win in Volga behind an 1-hit, 8-strikeout performance from Claussen.

Claussen also connected for 3 hits at the plate, while Clubb and Kolt Koepsell had multi-hit games.

Sioux Valley 6, W-W/M-H/WS 5 (8 IN)

Levi Loban hit a walk-off to left field to earn the Sunday split for Sioux Valley.

Fellow Cossack Jack Optiz went 4-4 with 3 runs in the win.

Devon Fischbach drove in a trio of runs on 3 hits, including 2 doubles, as W-I-N cruised to the early victory.

Also for the winners, Quinton Fischbach and Dawson Ward had 3 hits each, while Ashton Remily and Noah Fischbach both scored twice with a pair of base knocks.

Groton Area 8, W-I-N 2

Ryan Groeblinghoff set the new statewide high for strikeouts in a game this season, as the Tiger finished with 16 punch outs in 6 innings of work.

At the plate, fellow Tiger Colby Dunker went 2-2 with a walk and a 2 RBIs.

The Tigers earned the sweep behind a 3-hit performance from Bradin Althoff.

Teammate Cade Larson drove in 4 runs on 2 hits and Brevin Fliehs also collected 2 hits in the win.

Dell Rapids 5, Tea 2

The Quarriers picked up the game 1 win behind the arm of Jack Henry.

Henry struck out 11 batters while giving up just 4 base runners in 5 2/3 innings of work.

At the plate, Dylan Mathis drove in a trio of runs on 2 hits, while Henry and Brayden Pankonen each matched with a pair of hits.

The Quarriers held off a late Titans rally to earn the sweep.

Treyse Eastman drove in 3 runs on 2 walks and a triple for Dells, while Tad Tjaden earned the win with 8 punch outs.

MVPCS 3, Lennox 2

MVPCS passed Lennox in the standings with a big road win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Tyson Wentland earned the win on the mound while connecting for 2 hits to lead the way for the Padres. Teammate Dan Laufman drove in all 3 runs.

C/C-E/F 13, HBE 12

Lane Johanson hit a walk-off single to earn the Fliers the thrilling victory.

C/C-E/F connected for 18 hits in the contest, including 3 each from Ethan Hoffman and Micah Otto.

Kolby Peters would also blast 2 doubles and a triple for the winners and Tristan Peters scored a trio of runs.

For HBE, Hadley Wallace and AJ Wilber had multi-hit days.

McCook 11, Tri-Valley 5

Jackson Remmers scored 4 runs and connected for 3 hits in the leadoff spot to lead the way for the Burros.

Teammate Carter Randall drove in 3 runs, while Jackson Grady and Shea Klinkhammer finished with 2 hits each.

The Royals picked up a huge victory behind a complete game effort from Ethan Bartels.

At the plate Aiden Barfuss connected for a double and a triple.

PGDCWL 8, STM 6

The Honkers put together a 3-run rally in the final frame to earn the win over the Cavaliers.

Joey Foxley had a big game for the Honkers, as the shortstop connected for 4 hits, including a 2-run home run.

Aiden Bultje also crushed a dinger in the contest, while teammates Dawson Hoffman and Tanner Dyk each collected a pair of hit.

PGDCWL 9, Lead-Deadwood 2

Foxley wrapped up a Sunday sweep for the Honkers with another home run against Lead-Deadwood.

Trevor Rolland also blasted a home run among 3 hits, while Bultje hit a double and a triple among 3 hits in the leadoff spot.

St. Thomas More 16, L-D 7

The Cavaliers and Gold Diggers combined for 25 hits in the contest, but a 6-run 6th inning proved to be the key for STM.

Spencer Johannesen had a big game at the plate, going 5-5 with 6 RBIs.
