Boys Basketball Daily Recap (1/2): Harrisburg Gets Overtime Win at the Corn Palace, Hansen Goes 14-14 From the Free Throw Line For the Tanagers

Class AA

Harrisburg 62, Mitchell 53

The Tigers took the early lead but trailed for most of the second half before excellent defense forced overtime. Harrisburg then continued that defensive effort while also hitting a few key shots to secure the win and remain as the only team in AA without an in-state loss.

Braeden VanBockern finished with 32 points for the Tigers, while Braeden Feeldy and Camden Phipps each scored 9.

For the Kernels, Colton Smith had a tremendous performance with 19 points and 9 boards, while Gavin Soukup finished with 17. Markus Talley also had a great defensive game to go along with 16 points.

O’Gorman 71, Brookings 61

Nyun Dut led the Knights to victory with 22 points while Austin Clark finished with 31 points for the Bobcats.


Class A

Groton Area 69, Warner 34

Lane Tietz hit 5 threes and scored 26 points as the Tigers cruised to the victory. Teammate Jacob Zak closed in on a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and Ryder Johnson scored 16.

Parker 47, Bon Homme 38

The Pheasants won an excellent defensive battle in Tyndall.

Offensively, Ray Travnicek (13 pts) and Myles Meyer (12 pts) each reached double figures for the winners, while Chapin Cooper had 13 points and 7 board for Bon Homme.

Vermillion 69, Tea Area 49

The Tanagers picked up a huge victory as Trey Hansen went 14-14 from the charity stripe on his way to 26 points.

Zoan Robinson also scored 14 for the victors and Bryson Skogsberg scored 10.

For the Titans, Sam Almas pulled down 8 rebounds on his way to a team-high 23 points.


Class B

Howard 76, Menno 25

5 different Tigers finished the contest in double-figures, including a game-high 19 from Luke Koepsell.

Teammate Carson Hinker finished with 13, while Taiden Hoyer (11 pts), Colby Claussen (10 pts) and Kolt Koepsell (10 pts) also were in the aforementioned group.

For Menno, Adam Munkvold scored 10.

L/FA 69, Wilmot 41

13 different Titans scored in the victory for Leola/Frederick Area.

Noah Kippley lead those scorers with 17, and teammate Milo Sumption finished with 11. For Wilmot, Keitrick Genia scored a team-high 12 in the loss.

T-D/A 45, K/WL 37

The Nighthawks picked up a tough victory over the WiLdKats behind 13 points each from Isaac Wunder and Riley Spaans.

For K/WL, Blake Leiferman scored 8 points and pulled down 9 boards in the loss.

St. Mary 72, Garretson 51

Maverick Leburn dropped 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the win. Trevon Beckmen (19 pts) and Nic Gaspar (16 pts) also had big nights for the Cardinals.
