Girls Basketball Daily Recap (1/16): Lyman Picks Up Big Win

Class AA

Huron 54, Brookings 36

Hylton Heinz finished with 18 points to lead the Tigers to the ESD victory. Hamtyn Heinz also scored 14 in the win.

For Brookings, Macy Even and Tess Burns each scored 10 in the contest.


Class A

Beresford 45, Madison 25

The Watchdogs were led by Ella Merriman with 22 points, while teammate Harley Kloth nearly completed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Flandreau 67, Deuel 14

Lizzy Pavlis pulled down 10 rebounds on her way to 17 points in the victory. Claire Sheppard also had a 11-12 double-double and Lily Klein scored 15 for the Fliers.

GPL 46, W-SS 10

Esta Cameron scored 15 as the Panthers cruised to victory.

Hanson 59, Howard 43

Taziah Hawkins (17) and Eliza Oltmanns (16) combined for 33 points to lead the Beaverettes to the win.

For Howard, Abby Aslesen finished with 25.

K/WL 66, Bridgewater-Emery 39

Harley Namanny finished with 26 points to lead the WiLdKats to the win. Ryann Nielsen also scored 15 in the win, while Hayden Hofer led the Huskies in the loss with 12.

North Central 45, Ipswich 21

Ella Batie scored 18 in the victory for the Titans and Amree Vander Vorst chipped in 14.

SC/W 44, I/LP 40

Liz Boschee completed a 20-10 double-double to lead the Blackhawks to victory.

For the Sharks, Adison Moore lead with 20 points while Hadlee Holt pulled down 15 rebounds.

Tea Area 50, Watertown 32

Mara Grant led the Lady Titans with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. Katie Vasecka also had a game-high 17 points for the victors.

Tri-Valley 60, Deubrook Area 50

Lauren Grinde dropped 17 points in the second half on her way to 24 points in the win for the Mustangs.

In the loss, Mataya Gouws scored 20.

Vermillion 56, EP-J 36

Chandler Cleveland finished with 18 points and 9 boards to lead the Lady Tanagers to the Dak XII victory. Teammate Jenaya Cleveland scored 13, while Bentlee Kollbaum finished with 10 points for the Huskies.

For EP-J, Bentlee Kollbaum scored 10.


Class B

Castlewood 58, St. Mary 49

Presley Knecht dropped 15 to lead the Warriors to the win. Teammate Natalie Atkin handed out 9 assists in the victory and Kylie Wittnebel scored 10 points to go along with 8 rebounds.

For St. Mary, Jenna Miller scored 22 and Addison Libis finished with 16 points.

Centerville 73, Freeman 32

Emma Marshall scored 17 to lead the Tornadoes to the victory, and Thea Gust complimented with 14.

Ethan 75, Menno 17

Ava Lingemann passed out 8 assists on her way 21 points to lead the Rustlers to the victory. Teammate Ella Pollreisz completed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Highmore-Harrold 54, Sunshine Bible Academy 26

Kendall Cermak and Jada Baloun each scored 14 to lead H-H to the consolation win at the 281 Conference Tournament.

Lyman 58, White River 41

Brooke Palmer pulled down 14 rebounds on her way to 18 points in the victory. Skyler Volmer also scored 21 points with 8 steals and Makaylee Scott finished with 12.

T-D/A 50, Bon Homme 46

Kinsley Spaans lead the Nighthawks to the victory with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Megan Reiner (15 pts) and Mia Reiner (12 pts) also had key performances for the victors.

In the loss, Erin Heusinkveld and Olivia Bures each scored 14.

Viborg-Hurley 60, Avon 59

Five Cougars finished in double-figures to help give the Cougars to victory.

Charley Nelson and Aubree Schwartz lead the winning squad with 13 each, while Kendra Gilbert scored 12. Jenna Graves and Tatum Lyons round out the aforementioned group with 11 points each.

Wolsey-Wessington 47, Hitchcock-Tulare 44

Lainey Uttecht scored 23 points to lead the Warbirds to the consolation victory at the 281 Conference tournament.

For the Patriots, Katelyn Schroeder scored 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds and Cambree Hoekman finished with 16 points.

Wessington Springs 41, James Valley Christian 39

Carissa Scheel scored 15 points in the second half and finished with 19 points to lead the Spartans to the semifinal victory. Addyson Orth also finished with 13 in the win.

For JVC, Addison Bartholow lead with 14 points.
