Girls Basketball Daily Recap (1/18): Wessington Springs Wins the 281 Conference Tournament, Harrisburg Earns Big Victory

Class AA

Harrisburg 53, Jefferson 43

Kinley Lawrenson (14) and Sadie Mehrman (13) combined for 27 points to lead the Tigers to the top five victory.

For the Cavs, Jaidyn Dunn completed a 18-14 double-double and Brinley Altenburg complimented with 17 points.


Class A

Groton Area 42, Milbank 39

Sydney Leicht hit a trio of threes and finished with 11 points to lead the winning effort. Teammate Jerica Locke also passed out 7 assists in the contest.

In the loss, Isabella Anderson scored 13.

Hamlin 66, Redfield 33

Addison Neuendorf dropped 31 points with the help of 8 makes from behind the arc as the Chargers cruised to victory. Teammate Marissa Bawdon also scored 18, while Katie Rozell finished with 14 for Redfield.

Sisseton 69, Webster Area 29

Hannah Leverson scored 11 points and Emmalee Nielsen finished with 10 points to lead the Redmen to the dominate victory.

For Webster Area, Erin Sannes finished with a game-high 17 points.


Class B

Colman-Egan 50, E-LB 38

Kaylee Voelker (19) and Brynlee Landis (17) combined for 36 points in the Hawks’ victory.

In the loss, Tevan Erickson scored 15 and Kylie Ramlo pulled down 10 boards.

L/FA 50, Northwestern 38

Sofia Losure pulled down 11 rebounds and scored 12 points to lead the Titans to the home victory. Teammate Laura Sumption had a game-high 15 and Jillian Ellwein made 4 threes on her way to 13 points.

JVC 61, I/LP 46

The Lady Vikings took an early 10-point lead and held off the Sharks to earn a 3rd place finish at the 281 Conference Tournament. Kaylie Robinson led the effort with 22 points, including 4 threes, and teammate Addison Bartholow scored 13.

For the Sharks, Adison Moore scored 12 points in the second half and finished with 13 in the contest.

St. Mary 51, Chester 47

Jenna Miller scored 19 points to lead the Lady Cardinals to the tough victory. Addison Libis also scored 16 in the win.

Wessington Springs 40, SC/W 38

The Lady Spartans won the 281 Conference Championship in a tough battle with the Blackhawks. Carissa Scheel led the victors with 12 points and Kerstynn Heim pulled down 11 boards.

For the Blackhawks, Liz Boschee grabbed 8 rebounds and scored 18 points.

Wolsey-Wessington 52, Highmore-Harrold 47

The Lady Warbirds took 5th in the 281 Conference Tournament behind 20 points from Lainey Uttecht. Shae Uttecht also scored 15 points in the win and Jada Baloun led the Pirates with 15 points of her own.
