Initial Volleyball Rankings

Here are the initial volleyball rankings. A total of 5,826 sets from this season where used to compute these rankings.

Raw Score is how much the team would be expected to beat the average team in the state by on a per set basis. You can then compare the numbers between two teams to see what the average set score would be in any given match.

EXAMPLE: Jefferson (18.4) plays Harrisburg (16.4).

In this example, Jefferson should average a 2-point victory per set in their match. Obviously, the difference between teams may be less than 2 or greater than 25.

Since this is impossible, it should be noted that playing a team where you are projected to win by more than 25 would slightly lower your score. There isn’t anyway to change to this without drastically making the scores less accurate. However, playing a team that low this late in the season would cause little to no change.

Also you are projected to win by less than 2, that is again impossible. But over the course of an entire match, the computer projects you to win by that average. But essentially, anything less than two means its a 50/50 chance either team would win a typical set.
