SD Baseball Recap (4/27): Yankton Smashes 28 Hits in Sweep

Yankton 13, Washington 2

The Bucks’ bats were hot on Tuesday evening, as Yankton drew 9 walks with 9 hits behind a victory from pitcher Sam Kampshoff.

Joe Gokie lead the way with 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored, while Lucas Kampshoff drove in 4. Also for Yankton, Drew Ryken touched home plate 4 times off of 2 walks and a double.

For Washington, Andrew Glovich had 2 hits.

Yankton 19, Washington 10

Yankton finished with an incredible 19 hits on their way to victory. Gokie continued his dominance at the plate, going 3-5 with 3 RBIs. Catcher Jace McCorkell (3-5, 2 RBIs), CF Mac Ryken (3-4, 3 R, 3 RBIs), RF Dylan Prouty (3 RBIs, 4 R) and 1B Connor Teichroew (4 RBIs) all drove in multiple runs in the win.

In the loss, Cael Swanson finished with 3 hits and 3 runs scored to lead the Warriors.


Mitchell 6, Jefferson 4

A 5-run 6th inning helped the Kernels to victory over Jefferson. Jonah Schmidt hit 3 doubles for Mitchell on his way to a 4-4 day, and Landon Waddell struck out 12 with no-hits in 5.2 innings.

Mitchell 6, Jefferson 5

Brock Sparks hit a 2-run walk-off to lift Mitchell to a sweep over Jefferson on Tuesday night. Sparks had two hits in the win, both singles, while teammate Jake Helleloid scored twice after drawing a pair of walks.

In the loss, Ben Honkomp went 2-3 while scoring twice, and Ryan Rysavy drove in 2 runs on 2 hits.


Brandon Valley 11, Roosevelt 1 (5 IN.)

Trey Sejnoha threw a complete game two-hitter with 8 strikeouts in the win. Teammates Carson Askdal and Austin Reiter both went 3-4, and Logan Kelling drove in 2 runs on a pair of hits.

For Roosevelt, Dexter Payne had both hits, including a triple.

Roosevelt 8, Brandon Valley 7

Roosevelt avenged a Game 1 loss when Dane Mediger hit a 2-run single to walk it off against the Lynx. The Rough Riders had 11 hits in the win, including 2 each from Jaxsen Grevengoed, Ben Irsfeld and Jamie Legg. In the loss, Carson Askdal finished with a pair of hits.


O’Gorman 2, Harrisburg 1

In a low scoring affair, O’Gorman’s Trey Heckenlaible came out the victor, striking out 7 with 2 hits in a complete game performance.

Tristin VanWassenhove had 2 of the Knights 3 hits on the evening, as OG capitalized on 6 walks to earn their runs.


Parkston 3, Bon Homme 1

Another strong pitching performance, Kaleb Weber went 5 innings in relief to help lift the Trojans to victory. Weber struck out 8 while giving up just 2 hits. Will Jodozi was also a key player at the play for Parkston, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs while scoring the other run.

For Bon Homme, Riley Rothschadl took the loss, striking out 14 in 6 innings, while giving up 5 hits.
