SD Baseball Recap (4/28): Lockwood-Powell Hits Walk-Off Home Run

Lincoln 7, Washington 6

Oscar Lockwood-Powell connected on a 1-0 pitch in the bottom of the 8th inning, and hit a solo walk-off home run to left field.

Lockwood-Powell had 2 hits in the win, as did teammate Chase Houselog, who earned the win on the mound. Also for the Patriots, Gavin Solomon finished with a pair of RBIs and runs scored. For Washington Cael Swanson had 2 hits in the leadoff spot.

Roosevelt 9, Harrisburg 3

The Rough Riders won a huge matchup on Thursday night, behind the arm of Ben Irsfeld. Ben had 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings, while Jack Radel finished out the game with 1.1 innings of relief.

As for the bats, Marcus Phillips scored a pair of runs on 2 hits, including a double, and teammate Jamie Legg went 2-3. For Harrisburg, Tyman Long and Maddux Scherer had 2 hits each.

MVPCS 2, Hanson-Bridgewater-Emery 0

Padres pitcher Tyson Wentland went the distance, striking out 11 while giving up only 3 hits. MVPCS only had 2 hits in the win, but drew 6 walks to complete the victory. For the H-B-E Dawgs, Kade Waldera went 2-3.

Vermillion 4, Bon Homme 2

Bon Homme outhit Vermillion 6-5, but a 3-run 3rd inning propelled the Tanagers to victory. Charlie Ward scored twice and had 2 hits in the win, while teammate Willis Robertson went 1-3 with a run scored in the leadoff spot. Robertson also earned the save, throwing 2.2 innings while striking out 3.

For Bon Homme, Riley Rothschadl hit 2 doubles with a walk and a run. Easton Mudder also had 2 hits at the plate in the loss.

Rapid City Christian 15, Hot Springs 1 (5 IN.)

The Comets capitalized on 8 errors and 7 hits to earn the victory. Trace Trainor went 1-2 with 2 runs and a pair of walks for RCC. Blaine Bolton also scored 2 runs with a hit in the win.

O’Gorman 6, Jefferson 5

Trey Heckenlaible hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead, and the Knights held on for the win.

Mason Fritz had a triple in the win. For Jefferson, Thomas Heiberger scored twice with 2 hits, and Ryan Rysavy had a triple among 2 hits.

Belle Fourche 13, St. Thomas More 8

The Broncs broke the game open with a 7-run 6th inning, and held on for the victory, despite 11 errors from Belle Fourche.

Ryker Audiss had a big day at the plate driving in 4 runs on 3 hits, while scoring 2 of his own. JT Hahne also hit in a trio of runs, and Dalton Davis scored 3 times in the win.

For STM, Chase Donelly went 3-4.
