SD Baseball Recap (4/3): Roosevelt Bats Explode, Kienholz Leads Govs To Big Victory

Pierre 19, RC Central 2 (5 IN.)

The Governors got 18 hits and 6 walks in the victory, adding 7 runs in the top of the 5th to lock in the West River win.

Lincoln Kienholz went 2-2 with a triple, 3 RBIs, 3 walks, and 4 runs scored. Jett Zabel also mashed 3 hits and 3 RBIs in the win, while Jackson Edman had a triple.

Roosevelt 11, Lincoln 8

Jamie Legg had a home run and 3 RBIs in the win, while Marcus Phillips also put one over the fence to go along with 4 RBIs. The Rough Riders bats produced 11 hits and 3 runs in the win.

For Lincoln, Chase Houselog had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, including a triple. The Patriots finished with 13 hits in the loss.

Roosevelt 16, Lincoln 1 (5 IN.)

The Rough Riders bats stayed hot in game 2, with Noah Goodroad going 5-5 with 6 RBIs and 3 doubles, while teammate Brayden Bryum impressively hit 2 home runs. On the mound, Ben Irsfeld struck out 5 with 1 hit in 3 innings of work.

Washington 10, O’Gorman 8

The Warriors broke the game open on 2 bases-loaded walks and an HBP. Cael Swanson would also score 2 in the inning on a pop fly single, while Andrew Glovich doubled to extend the Washington lead to 7. The Knights nearly completed the comeback, but a bases loaded groundout ended the game. Quinn Dunham and Wyatt Hermsen had 2 hits, while Carter Petersen had 2 walks for the OG.

Brandon Valley 12, Madison 2 (5 IN.)

Jack Riley dominated for the Lynx on the mound, throwing 4 innings with 7 strikeouts, while giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run. Matt Brown had 3 hits, including a home run, to go with 4 RBIs in the victory, and Austin Reiter went deep as well for the Lynx. For Madison, Aspen Dahl had the lone hit.

Brandon Valley 3, Madison 2

Nick Hockensted singled on a 3-2 count in the bottom of the sixth to score the game winning run for the Lynx, who swept the Bulldogs on the day. Nick Ricke had a solid start for Madison, striking out 5 while giving up just 1 hit in 3 innings of work. But Lynx starter, Carson Askdal matched the Bulldogs starter, going 3 innings while striking out 5 with no hits.

Vermillion 16, Centerville 0 (3 IN.)

The Tanagers jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead before cruising to victory. Clayton Sorensen went 2-2 with 3 RBIs and scored twice to lead Vermillion in the win. Willis Robertson and Carter Mart also scored twice, while Charlie Ward touched home three times for the Tanagers.

On the mound, Jake Jensen threw 2 innings, striking out 3 while giving up just 1 hit.

Clark-Willow Lake 7, Gregory County 6

C-WL took the lead on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 6th and then held on in the 7th for the victory.

For Gregory County, Ben Witt scored twice while going 2-2 with 2 walks, and Sawyer Tietgen scored twice with 2 RBIs in the loss.

RC Christian 13, Gregory County 9

Gannon Thomas had 2 doubles in the loss, while Rylan Peck had a triple at the plate while throwing 4 innings for Gregory County. For the Comets, Cayden Von Eye had 2 hits, including a double and scored 2 runs from the lead off spot, while Jerred Zeigler walked 4 times.

Menno/Scotland 9, Parker 3

Menno/Scotland broke out for 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure the victory on Saturday.

T Bietz lead the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while T Sayler earned the win, going 6 innings with no hits and 5 strikeouts, while walking 8.

Brookings 8, Yankton 5

Breck Hirrschoff and Lincoln Hardin had 2 hits and a double each to lead the Bobcats on the road. Charlie Holm also had 2 hits in the victory, while Jake Amman gave up just 1 hit in 5 innings of work on the mound.

For the Bucks, Lucas Kampshoff had the lone hit (double), while Mac Ryken scored twice.

Yankton 11, Brookings 9

The Bucks, who were trailing by 3 runs, exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th, with Joe Gokie driving in the game winning RBI.

Mac Ryken scored 3 runs on 2 hits in the lead off spot, while Lucas Kampshoff drove in 2 runs. Also for the Bucks, Sam Kampshoff went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, including a double.

Mitchell 21, Stevens 1 (5 IN.)

The Kernels dominated from the start, with Jace Larson going 3-4 with 4 RBIs in the win. Jake Helleloid also scored 4 runs with 3 RBIs, while getting a double and triple at the plate. On the mound, Dylan Soulek struck out 7 while giving up 5 hits in 4 innings. For the Raiders, Colton Nesland had 2 hits.

Stevens 12, Mitchell 4

The Raiders bats came to life in game 2, with Nesland going 3-4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs in the win. Gavan Willamson also went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, while teammate Cody Pope had 2 hits, including a triple.

Harrisburg 12, Lennox 1 (5 IN.)

The Tigers picked back up where they left off last season, having 12 hits and 6 walks in the win. Tyman Long went 3-4 with 2 RBIs, while Maddux Scherer had 2 doubles while knocking in 2 runs.

Dakota Valley 15, Baltic 5 (6 IN.)

The Panthers scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 5th to earn the victory on Saturday. Ashton Pick had 3 hits, while Tyler Schutte finished with 2 doubles. Garrett Anderson also drove in 4 runs for Dakota Valley.

For Baltic, Jose Valadez had 2 hits with 2 runs scored and teammate Hunter Larson drove in 3 runs on 2 hits.
