Baseball Recap (4/30): OG Earns Sweep with No-Hitter, Lincoln Connects for 32 Hits on the Road

CLASS A

O’Gorman 20, Yankton 8

The Knights clinched game one with a seven-run inning in the sixth frame. Hunter Den Boer led the effort with a 4-5 performance and six RBIs, while Trenton Fischer and Charlie Hueners each had three hits at the top of the order.

Also for the Knights, Brogan Moffitt drove in five runs and Zach Dunham connected for a home run and four RBIs.

For Yankton, Owen Wishon went 3-4 and Gavin Johnson drove in three runs on two hits.

O’Gorman 6, Yankton 1

John Lent punched out 16 batters in the combined no-hitter for the Knights. Charlie Lueners closed the door with a pair of strikeouts in the final inning.

At the plate, Trenton Fischer had three more hits and Hunter Den Boer connected for a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Pats an early lead.

Lincoln 10, Brookings 0

Lincoln took care of business on the road with a 14-hit performance. Sawyer Mindt had a big game for the victors, as the first baseman went 3-5 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs. Teammates Ryan Hirsch and Nate Motl complimented with three hits each.

Defensively, Caden Watson threw a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts.

Lincoln 18, Brookings 6

The Patriots earned the sweep with another big offensive game, including seven doubles from the victorious squad.

Brayden Olson led the way with three hits and four RBIs, while Ryan Hirsch reached first base six times with three hits and three RBIs. Sawyer Talk also finished with three hits in the victory.

For Brookings, Tane Freidrich had two hits.

Mitchell 6, Washington 2

Parker Mandel scattered seven baserunners and struck out six in five innings on the mound to help lead the Kernels to the victory. At the plate, Kendan Skinner had four RBIs in the win.

For Washington, Tyler Pankonin went 2-3.

Roosevelt 11, Tea 1 (5 IN)

The Rough Riders earned the victory on the road behind a balanced offensive effort. Jaxsen Grevengoed, Tucker DeHaan and Tyson Albertsen each connected for a pair of hits in the win.

Kaleb Schroeder led the defensive effort with six strikeouts in four innings on the hill.


CLASS B

RC Christian 14, Hot Springs 4 (6 IN)

The Comets utilized 14 hits to earn the early win in Rapid City.

Benson Kieffer and Cayden Von Eye each blasted home runs in the victort and Trevor Wilcox had a 3-4 performance with two runs and three RBIs. On the mound, Vander Von Eye earned the victory with three strikeouts in four innings.

In the loss, Kyle Fisher went 2-3 with two runs.

Gregory County 10, Winner/Colome 0 (5 IN)

Gannon Thomas threw a five-inning shutout with nine strikeouts to lead Gregory County to the Region 4 win. Thomas also drove in four runs with a home run at the plate, and teammates Hudson Fuhrer and Colt Keiser each had two hits in the contest.
