Baseball Recap (5/2): Henry Has Two Home Run Game, OG Wins 10 Inning Thriller

Class A

O’Gorman 5, Jefferson 3 (10 IN)

Sully Schlimgen blasted a go-head solo home run in the tenth frame and Brogan Moffitt had a RBI single to secure the win. Sam Marsh earned the victory on the mound with two innings of shutdown pitching.

For Jefferson, Carson Hughes and Tyler Olson each had a pair of hits.

Lincoln 4, Roosevelt 0

Kasen Christiansen threw a two-hitter while punching out seven batters to secure the win for the Pats. Teammate Sawyer Mindt had two hits in the contest and Nate Motl connected for a home run.

Stevens 7, Mitchell 3

The Raiders rallied for five runs in the final inning to secure the road victory. Jackson Dial reached base safely three times via a double and a pair of HBPs. Teammate Mason Brooks also scored twice on two hits and Blake Olmsted and Colten Morlang each went 2-4 in the win.

On the mound, Morlang struck on 12 in a complete game effort.

Stevens 8, Mitchell 2

Stevens earned the sweep as Morlang went 2-2 with a home run, a double and four RBIs in the contest. Brooks also had another multi-hit performance, going 2-4 with two runs in the leadoff spot.

Brookings 11, Huron 1 (6 IN)

The Bobcats took care of business at home with 12 hits in the contest. Addison Ronning led the winning squad with two doubles and a single and David Brink drove in three runs.

Also in the win, Tate Antonen and Austin Clark had two hits each. Defensively, Breck Wilson earned the win with eight strikeouts in six innings of work.


Class B

Dell Rapids 25, McCook 3 (3 IN)

Jack Henry crushed two home runs and a double and drove in six runs as the Quarriers connected for 15 hits in the victory.

Mason Stubbe also had a 4-4 performance with a home run and a double, and teammates Cole Ruesink and Drake Eastman complimented with two hits each.

Dakota Valley 12, Vermillion 0 (5 IN)

Beau Pollema gave up just one hit in the contest while punching out nine batters as DV took the early win.

At the plate, Jackson Boonstra scored twice on two hits in the leadoff spot and Jack Wiese had a hit to go along with two walks.

Lennox 11, HBE 0 (5 IN)

The Orioles clinched the victory with a seven-run rally in the final frame. Isaac Bambas was shutdown on the mound, striking out eight while giving up just two hits. Offensively, Talen Eich connected for a home run and Cole Speiler, Braxton Musser and Bambas had two-hit performances.

SFC 13, Baltic 0 (5 IN)

Maddux Munson (2 IN) and Paul Hoekman (3 IN) threw a combined 2-hitter to lead the Chargers to the win. Munson also blasted a home run on the contest while Jacob Docter and Tate Connell drew three walks each.

SFC had eight hits in the contest, including two from both Jacob Sanderson and Peter Samp.

St. Thomas More 16, Hot Springs 4

The Cavs put together a nine-run rally in the seventh frame to secure the win.

Turner Thompson connected for a pair of doubles among three hits and four RBIs, while Holden Griswald, Owen Ponto and Marcus Stauffer each score three runs at the top of the order.

For Hot Springs, Brock Schroeder went 2-3.

Belle Fourche 8, Lead-Deadwood 3

Beau Wichterman had a home run and Ethan Hess had two hits as the Broncs took home the road win.
