BASEBALL RECAP (4/24): Winckler Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam

Bon Homme 7, Dakota Valley 3 (8 IN)

Logan Winckler connected for a walk-off grand slam on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the 8th, giving Dakota Valley their first lost of the season.

It was just the fourth hit of the contest for the Cavs, who also had a 2-RBI home run from Easton Mudder.

On the mound, Riley Rothschadl held strong through 6 innings with 9 strikeouts and just 2 runs before Logan Winckler earned the win with 2 innings of relief.

For DV, Jake Pruchniak struck out 14 batters and gave up just 2 hits in 6 innings of work. Catcher Jaxson Hennies also smashed a solo dinger and a double among 3 hits for the Panthers.


Washington 7, Jefferson 6

The Cavaliers made a late-run at victory by plating 5 runs in the 6th.

But a balk in the top of the 8th gave the Washington the lead, and a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half of the frame secured the win for the Warriors.

Bryce Ronken collected 3 hits in the contest for Washington while fellow Warrior Andrew Glovich went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Glovich also earned the win with 2 spotless innings on the mound.

For Jefferson, Logan Riddle drew 3 walks and Thomas Heiberger went 1-3 with a pair of walks.


Brandon Valley 6, Mitchell 1

Daniel Buteyn, Nick Lohr and Cole Frisbie combined for 10 strikeouts and just two hits on the mound as BV took the win over Mitchell.

At the plate, Ryland Carroll drove in 2 runs and Dawson Mork went 1-1 with 2 HBPs and a pair of stolen bases.


Tea 3, West Central 1

The Titans secured the victory with a 3-run 3rd inning and continued their winning ways on the road.

Clayton Schwebach threw a complete game for Tea, striking out 9 while scattering 3 hits and 3 walks.

At the plate, Carter Turek connected for 2 hits, including a double, and Teagan Dedule went 2-2 with an RBI.


Vermillion 17, BAH 6 (4 IN)

Vermillion picked up a big win behind a 7-run first inning.

Trey Hansen lead the way with 3 RBIs and 2 hits for the winners and fellow Tanagers Jack Vitt and Mikey Roob both had multi-hit days.

Also for Verm, Connor Peterson scored 3 runs on 3 walks in the leadoff spot and Connor Roerig scored of a trio of runs off of a hit and walk.


Redfield Area 12, W-I-N 3

The Muskrats connected for 12 hits in the win.

Seth Siebrecht had a big day at the plate, driving in 3 runs on 3 hits, while scoring 3 of his own.

Nolan Gall and Keaton Rohlfs also pieced together 2 hits and Elliot Komraus blasted a solo shot for the first run of the game in the bottom of the second.


MC/M 15, Garretson 2 (5 IN)

Jackson Remmers drove in 3 runs on 2 hits, collected a pair of walks, and scored a trio of runs in the win for the Burros.

Carter Randall also knocked in 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk, while teammates Ty Morrison and Trystan Traupel had multi-hit games.


Sturgis 16, Douglas 6 (5 IN)

The Scoopers continued their hot-hitting with 11 runs in the first frame to secure the win on the road.

Owen Cass drove in 5 runs on 3 hits, including a triple, to lead Sturgis in the win.

Fellow Scoopers Kain Peters and Dylan Christenson connected for 2 hits each, while Hayden Janzen and Connor Cruichshank scored 3 times in the contest.

For Douglas, Caleb Hauser went 2-2 with a walk.
