Girls Basketball Daily Recap (1/23): SFC Wins Throwback Classic In Comeback Fashion

Class AA

Huron 54, Watertown 45

The Tigers picked up their third straight win in the final game of their home stand. Hamtyn Heinz (18 pts), Elizabeth Heinen (15 pts) and Hylton Heinz (15 pts) each had key performances for the victors.

For the Arrows, Emery Thury led with 13 points.


Class A

Flandreau 71, Madison 29

Claire Sheppard grabbed 8 rebounds and handed out 8 assists on her way to a 12 point performance in the win. Teammate Lily Klein had a game-high 23 points and Lizzie Pavlis chipped in 14 points.

In the loss, Audrey Nelson finished with 14 points.

Hanson 53, SC/W 34

Alyssa Moschell (13 pts, 7 reb, 7 stl), Kylie Haiar (12 pts, 9 reb) and Taziah Hawkins (12 pts, 5 ast) combined for 37 points.

Parkston 53, Platte-Geddes 35

Berkley Ziebart finished with 17 points in the Trojans’ victory and Gracie Oakley scored 12.

For P-G, Karly VanDerWerff scored a game-high 19 points.

RC Christian 53, Custer 52

The Lady Comets took down the Wildcats in narrow fashion behind 20 points from Hayden Thorton.

Redfield 31, Hitchcock-Tulare 30

Katie Rozell scored 11 points to lead the Pheasants in the tough battle with the Patriots.

SFC 82, Tea Area 73

The Chargers trailed by as much as 12 points with just three minutes remain, before a brilliant comeback forced a pair of overtimes and resulted in SFC taking the victory in the Throwback Classic.

Maya Nelson hit 6 threes to led the Chargers with 24 points, and Avery Reitz completed a 23-11 double-double.

For the Lady Titans, Katie Vasecka scored 32 points to go along with 14 rebounds and Mara Grant had a 14-14 double-double.

Sisseton 60, Lennox 49

Krista Langager led the winning effort with 26 points and Emmalee Nielsen complimented with 10 points.

For Lennox, Carli Kuyper went 10-10 from the free throw line and scored 15 in the contest.


Class B

Avon 46, Burke 39

The Lady Pirates snapped a losing streak with a big road win. McKenna Kocmich led the victorious effort with 18 points and Courtney Sees scored 11.

Cecily Geaghan scored 16 points and Paige Bull grabbed 11 rebounds in the loss.

Centerville 63, T-D/A 43

Althea Gust had 17 points and 6 assists in the contest to lead the Tornadoes to the win. Teammate Keira Austin also scored 14 points and Emma Marshall finished with 12 points.

For the Nighthawks, Megan Reiner led with 21 points, while Mia Reiner and Kinly Spaans each scored 11 points for the visitors.

Colman-Egan 39, Castlewood 37

For the victors, Kaylee Voelker scored 11 points.

Faulkton Area 32, Northwestern 28

The Trojans won a great defensive battle, led by Kelli Stoecker with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Carley Cotton also scored 14 points for the victors.

In the loss, Ashley Haven pulled down 12 boards, Ella Boekelheide grabbed 11 rebounds and Tara Blachford scored 13 points.

Warner 52, Langford Area 26

The Monarchs cruised to victory behind 20 points from Stacia Carda.

Wolsey-Wessington 39, SBA 26

Lainey Uttecht and Payton Kemnitz each finished with 11 points in the victor.
