SOFTBALL RECAP (4/24): O’Gorman Crushes Three Home Runs

Class AA

Harrisburg 12, Pierre 2 (5 IN)

Maleia Knutson hit a triple and a double with 2 RBIs to lead the way for Harrisburg.

Fellow Tigers Brooklyn Haffey and Maddie Viel had multi-hit days while Haffey also drove in a team-leading 3 runs.

Brandon Valley 11, Pierre 2

Coral Gonseth crushed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st and the Lynx never looked back on their way to a 10-hit performance.

Danielle Schohby hit a pair of doubles in the win, while Aftyn Terveer and Peyton Ambahl both smashed a triple for the Lynx.

Central 17, Sturgis 8

Raylee Jones, Ally Davis, Keera Taylor and Shantel Anderson all connected for 3 hits in the victory for Central.

The Cobblers finished with 20 hits in the contest, including doubles from Holly Jacobs, Jessica Chiolis, Jones, Davis, Taylor and Anderson.

Jefferson 13, Watertown 4

The Cavs cruised to victory behind a dominant performance from the middle of the lineup.

The 3-4-5 hitters for the Cavs went 11-15 in the contest, as Ashlen Johnson smashed a home run and a triple, cleanup Emma Buie went 4-5 with a double, and Greta Mueller drove in 3 runs on 3 hits.

For Watertown, Jade Lund went 2-3 with a RBI.

O’Gorman 14, Yankton 3 (5 IN)

The Knights broke the contest open with 8 runs in the 4th inning.

Kira Mentele, Atley Herold-Stephens and Karsten Schmlingen all hit dingers in the win, while Samantha Fonder went 4-4 with 4 RBIs and Ava Tobin scored three times on 3 hits.


CLASS A

Dell Rapids 18, Vermillion 7 (6 IN)

Down 6-3 after 4 innings, the Quarriers completed the comeback with 8 runs in the 5th and secured the early win with an additional 7 runs in the 6th.

Katie Fiddelke crushed 2 home runs for Dells and Jaycee Tebay drove in 5 runs on a single, a double and a home run.

In total, 7 of the 9 starting Quarriers had multi-hit games, including 2 hits from Claire Wynja and Fiddelke, and 3 from Lexi Ingalls, Rileigh Foster, Kylie Lebahn, Katie Kvigne and Tebay.

West Central 19, Tri-Valley 0 (3 IN)

Kaylee Olson struck out 5 and gave up just 2 hits in a complete game effort for the Trojans.

At the plate, Caitlyn Hoff hit a home run and Hanna Raethz drove in 4 runs on a single and 2 doubles.

Wagner 7, F/M/FA 3

Ravyn Medricky drove in 2 runs a pair of hits to lead the way for the Red Raiders.

Teammate Emma Yost also connected for 2 hits and Braxton Nedved reached first safely three times on a 2 walks and a single.

Wagner 18, F/M/FA 3 (4 IN)

The Red Raiders cruised to the sweep, drawing 16 walks while collecting 10 hits in the contest.

Aubrey Medricky finished with 3 hits for the victors, while Lydia Yost drove in a trio of runs and Kayden Zephier drew a game-leading 4 walks.

EP-J 12, Viborg-Hurley 2 (5 IN)

Danica Torrez gave up just 1 hit in the circle for the Huskies.

At the dish, Grace Griffin lead the way with 3 hits and Josie Curry plated 3 runs in the win.

Bon Homme 19, Avon 5 (6 IN)

The Cavs put up a crooked number in 5 of the 6 innings, including 6 runs in the final frame.

Taycee Ranek drove in 4 runs on a home run and 3 walks, while Kenadee Kozak, Jurni Vavruska and Aspen Schunebaum scored 3 times each in the win.

Arlington 21, O-R/R 0 (3 IN)

Harley Johnson connected for a double and a home run in the contest, as the Cardinals finished with 8 extra-base hits.

Taya Clausen also went 3-3 for the winners, while Brenley Goebel drove in 3 runs and scored 3 of her own.

The Cardinals again scored 21 runs in the second game to earn the road sweep.

Addie Steffensen went 3-4 with 2 RBIs in the win and Addison Hill drove in a pair of runs on 2 hits.
